The hamsters have established a wide and appreciative audience, according to the Nielsen Company, which gave “this or that” the coveted Automotive Ad of the Year award at the 2011 New York Auto Show.
Kia won the same honor in 2010 for advertising the original hamster campaign, “A New Way to Roll.” Nielsen said that the campaigns have contributed to a significant increase in consumer awareness, perception and treatment of the Kia brand, and led to record sales of the Soul. In March, the Kia Soul was the second vehicle over 10,000 units sold in one month, and year to date sales are up 50.8 percent.
